First vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Valeriy Khoroshkovsky stressed that the issue of Ukraine's joining the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan is outside the law.

He said this at the First Conference of the Ukrainian National Platform for the Civil Society Forum of the Eastern Partnership.

"As for joining (the Customs Union - Ed.), it is outside the law," Khoroshkovsky said during the first conference of the Ukrainian National Platform of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum.

He reminded that the national legislation clearly defines European perspective of Ukraine.

According to the first vice PM, "all, who are not fulfilling the legislation on European integration, are outside the law."

At the same time Khoroshkovsky noticed that Ukraine can not give up mutually beneficial economic relations with its Eastern partners. "The economy has not been canceled, people are hungry every day. This means, from an economic point of view, we cannot close the story, the experience and developments we have in the economic field with our Eastern partners, and say "Excuse us, we turn our backs to you and work only in one direction," Khoroshkovsky said.

He stressed that it is a short-sighted policy as Ukraine needs cooperating with all countries, and this issue becomes especially relevant during the global economic crisis.
