First vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Valeriy Khoroshkovsky forecasts that Ukraine will sign the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement in the second half of 2013.

During the first conference of the Ukrainian National Platform of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum, Khoroshkovsky said that now technical preparation of the agreement, including its translation, is almost completed.

In addition to technical issues, Khoroshkovsky added, there are certain political points, which the Ukrainian party knows and works on.

"Thank God, we have heard positive signals (on the signing of the agreement - Ed.), for example, during the meeting of German Chancellor Angela Merkel with the head of the Polish government Donald Tusk it was said we have good chance to sign the Association Agreement next year," Khoroshkovsky said.

He drew attention to the fact that the date has not yet been determined. "Most likely, this will be the second half of 2013, but we have a chance," the first vice PM said.

Khoroshkovsky said that the Ukrainian party is well aware of the obstacles existing regarding the signing of the agreement but he expressed his belief that the signing, especially regarding the introduction of a free trade area, is advantageous to both parties.

Khoroshkovsky also stressed that the issue of European integration remains a top priority of the Ukrainian government, and all the reforms being conducted by the Cabinet are directed at its reaching.

According to him, Ukraine is on the homestretch of performing the integration action plan.
