Due to the military conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, 62 citizens of Ukraine have left the Gaza Strip, minister counsellor of the Embassy of Ukraine in the State of Israel to the Palestinian National Authority Ihor Turchyn told the Liberty radio.
"Among the killed people, there were no Ukrainian citizens. Only there was a boy slightly wounded by splinters of glass on Saturday. Now the citizens of Ukraine are leaving, and the diplomats of the Embassy of Ukraine in Egypt and Israel and the Mission of Ukraine in Palestine provide them with appropriate assistance. 62 people have already gone through Egypt out of 253 enrolled," Turchyn said.
"There is a real war, and the people who decided to leave have to choose a moment. If it is more or less quiet, they try to leave the country through the checkpoint at Rafah city. Now the Rafah checkpoint is closed because it is dangerous, and new attacks are expected here. The shooting attacks keep going all the time," the diplomat noted.
According to him, the Rafah checkpoint is expected to be opened in the morning on November 21. "We have the organizers and our consular office. There is no connection now. Our assistant called us and said that they ceased the communication and turned off the light. So now they can not call us," the Ukrainian diplomat in Israel informed.
