
During August-September, the population of Ukraine decreased by one thousand 37 people, and as of October 1, it amounted to 45 million 559 thousand 235 people, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine reported.
The State Statistics Service also informed that during January-September of 2012, the number of births in the country amounted to 390 thousand 396 people, that is by 17.5 thousand people more than during the same period of 2011. The number of deaths during January-September amounted to 495 thousand 220 people against 498 thousand 323 people in 2011.
The highest birth rate was recorded in Dnipropetrovsk region, where 27 thousand 745 children were born during January-September. The high fertility was also demonstrated in Kyiv with 25 thousand 118 born children, Odesa region - 22 thousand 649 and Lviv region - 22 thousand 751 children.
The lowest birth rate was registered in Sevastopol – 3.355 children during January-September of 2012. In general, the Ukrainian birth rate amounted to 11.4 children per 1.000 people in contrast with 10.9 per 1.000 people in 2011.
