The Foreign Ministry asked once again the EU to help with release of the Ukrainian journalist Ankhar Kochneva in Syria and Ukrainians convicted in Libya, deputy FM minister of Ukraine Andriy Olefirov told Ukrainian journalists in Brussels after the 14th meeting of the EU – Ukraine Cooperation Committee.
"I have met with representatives of the EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Catherine Ashton, and I took this opportunity to update the request of the Ukrainian side to help us with the release of Ankhar Kochneva kidnapped a month ago in Syria," he said.
"The same relates to the release of our citizens in Libya in the context of the election of the new Prime Minister of this country," Olefirov added.
The deputy minister stressed that the EU assistance in these issues is very important for Ukraine.
