Almost 17% of Ukrainian women do not give birth because of health problems. These are the results of a special socio-demographic study "Family and Children", conducted by the Institute of Demography and Social Studies, ForUm correspondent reporters.

According to head of the Institute Iryna Kurylo, 25out of 100 pregnant women have anemia, 14 have diseases of the genitourinary system, 6 have cardiovascular diseases, 18 have thyroid dysfunction.
The deputy head of the Maternal and Child Health department of the Healthcare Ministry of Ukraine Valentyna Kolomeichuk noted that there is alarming situation with cancer in Ukraine. In particular, the number of diseases such as cancer of the cervix uterus and ovaries increases.

"We can state the fact that cancer becomes "younger". Currently, women of active reproductive age (20-30 years) are much more likely to have cancer diseases," Kolomeichuk said.

According to the study, among the main obstacles to the desired number of children born Ukrainians call a lack of financial security of the family, the unsolved housing problems, career and infrastructural problems, such as lack of places in kindergartens and schools.
