Today, the presentation of the second phase of the project to digitize the original sources of the National Historical Library of Ukraine "Worldwide access to Ukrainian heritage" has been held.
During the period of the first phase of the project (July 2011 - August 2012) the website of the library was updated; an image catalog of all editions of the library, which is now available in the Internet, was established; more than 120 unique history rarities were digitized; the creation of an electronic reading room for the library users was initiated.

Within the next nine months the organizers plan to engage the youth, teach librarians technologies of safe scanning and save a few dozen old books, providing free public access to their electronic copies.

At least five years of daily work and continued funding will take to fully digitize library collections. Scanning one book costs 400-500 UAH, processing of each book takes half a day.
