Ukraine is set to the early conclusion of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, including the creation of a deep and comprehensive free trade area, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych said in the interview with the Fileleftheros Cypriot newspaper, ForUm learned from the President’s press service.
He drew particular attention to the fact that Ukraine’s European integration remains foreign policy priority of our state and a key benchmark of its internal development.
According to Yanukovych, today the European Union is going through a difficult phase in its development under the financial and economic crisis. "At the same time, this period is a test of the viability and effectiveness of the Union. The efforts of the EU and the Member States show that the basic principles of solidarity, economic and social cohesion continue operating," he said.
Responding the question about the prospects of cooperation between Ukraine and the Eurasian Union, the President noted that: "We are interested in cooperation with all the integration organizations that will promote the economic development of our country".
According to him, it is too early to evaluate the activities of the Eurasian Union and compare it with the EU. "This association is in the early stages of formation, but the dynamics of its development is of interest," the President added.
