Civil service reform in Ukraine should be conducted in accordance with European standards, head of Operations Section 1 "Good Governance and Democratisation” of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine Alexandru Albu told a press briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

According to him, it is necessary to clearly define the scope of activities to introduce a distinction between the political and administrative positions in the civil service.

The EU representative considers important to develop a common approach to the management of public service. "In addition to the need for effective public service, the authorities of the Eastern partners should take steps to ensure the efficient public policy. It is important to combine the policy dialogue between the EU and partner governments," he said.
 
Albu said that the European Commission will continue supporting the European aspirations of Ukraine. According to him, the programs aimed at improving legislation work now in Ukraine. In particular, Europe is to allocate 173 million euros under the SIB program for five countries - Eastern partners for development in 2011-2015.

Ukraine has not yet received the funds under the program, but, according to Albu, after the approval of a number of projects, our country will get 40-50 million euros for reforming.

Head of the department of trade and economic, sectoral and cross-border cooperation with the EU Office for European Integration of the Administration of the President of Ukraine, Leonid Pirozhkov said that "European integration remains a priority of our country, an orienting point for the internal development. Today, cooperation with the EU is being conducted in many industries ... The main trend is conclusion of the Association Agreement, the creation of a free trade area, which provides for broad-based reforms Ukraine".
