During the Cabinet’s meeting, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov promulgated the principles of the new economic development strategy.

As ForUm correspondent reports, the new strategy of economic development should be based on the following principles:

- all the forces of the state are focusing on three to five areas of sound economic growth;

- the strategy is planned in stages for the five-year period. This means approval of five-year development budgets of certain specific areas;

- the state encourages the maximum import substitution with domestic products;

- the state encourages its own export.

In addition, according to the PM, the state should help the strongest economy subjects.

"In the social sphere, we help the weak and the vulnerable. In the economy the state should help the strong and successful only. They need to be objectively determined. At the same time it is necessary to give maximum freedom of action to all who are able to independently, proactively develop business, create jobs, introduce advanced technology," he said.
