The U.S. policy regarding Ukraine will not change after the U.S. presidential election, U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine John Tefft has told reporters today.

"I think that the American policy regarding Ukraine will not change," he said.

Tefft also noted that both the Democratic and the Republican Party of the USA have a common approach with respect to the promotion of democratic values and policy implementation in the Eastern Europe.

"If, for example, Governor Mitt Romney had been elected president, I can assure you that the policy regarding Ukraine would have remained the same as it was," Tefft said.

Yesterday, Barack Obama defeated Republican Mitt Romney, winning at least 303 electoral votes in yesterday’s election with 270 needed for the victory.
