The request of the Central Election Commission to the parliament on holding repeat election in a number of single-mandate constituencies is a political statement, nothing more, leader of the Party of Regions faction Oleksandr Yefremov told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

"This statement is political and has no legal value. Moreover, no matter how hard CEC tries, it would be still difficult to count votes at problem districts after repeat elections, Yefremov said.

According to him, the parliament does not know what to do about this request. "According to the Constitution, the parliament cannot be engaged into elections, and now our lawyers are working on the best way out. In the form of recommendation, we will give an answer on existing possibilities to hold repeat elections. And if the repeat elections are announced, the Cabinet will have to allot proper financing," the politician specified.
