The Ukrainian Parliament has amended its Regulations including the election of speaker by open voting, ForUm correspondent reports.

The draft law on amendments to the Regulations in the second reading was adopted at the second attempt. 247 MPs voted in favor of such decision.

After the break, head of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Lytvyn noted that the MPs managed to reach a consensus on a number of controversial issues at the meeting.

In turn, first deputy speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Adam Martyniuk said that the first amendment to the bill on amendments to the Regulations concerned the immediate consideration of the issues at the first meeting of the newly elected VR.

According to him, in accordance with the adopted amendments to the Regulations, firstly the deputies form a temporary presidium, then factions and groups. After that, the head of the previous convocation reads a report on the legislative work in Ukraine, and then a returning board, head of the Parliament and his deputies will be elected.

After these procedures, the President will address the Parliament.

This amendment was supported by 245 MPs.

The second amendment to the Regulations supported by 247 MPs suggests that the composition of the parliamentary factions can include self-nominated deputies.

The third amendment supported by 264 MPs removes a provision from the bill allowing to raise an issue of ombudsman’s dismissal by 120 MPs.
