Ukrainians do not hurry to be vaccinated against influenza, head of the state health surveillance of the Sanitary-Epidemiological Service Vasyl Lyashko told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.
"Active influenza vaccination has begun only at 42 week of the 2012-2013 epidemic season, and as of today, only 14 thousand people were vaccinated against the flu, which is by 0.031% of the total population of Ukraine. Statistics suggests that this season, the level of vaccination against influenza will be the same as the last year – 1-2%. We are concerned about such approach of the local government to the vaccination," he said.
According to Lyashko, nearly 1 million 200 thousand people are included into a risk group, which should be vaccinated.
He noted that the risk group in Ukraine at risk includes children under five, pregnant women and senior citizens.
