Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn said that the elections were democratic and witnessed the people's desire to see new faces in the Parliament.

"I think the election results confirmed that people are tired of the same person. And I, as a self-critical person, attribute it to myself as well," Lytvyn said.

In his view, the elections became a kind of protest, disappointment in those who were somehow personified with the power and the desire to see new faces, he said in the interview with the Parliament’s TV channel.

Speaker also expressed his belief that the campaign was not different from the campaign in 2004 and 2006. "I think it was more open and transparent," Lytvyn summed.
