The United States and the European Union are interested in a transparent establishment of results of the elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to Ukraine John Tefft and EU ambassador to Ukraine Ian Tombinsky said during a meeting with chairman of the Central Election Commission Volodymyr Shapoval, ForUm learned from the press service of the CEC.

"We hope that the work of counting and related problems will be solved with due regard to the will of the voters. And we would like to be sure that the Parliament chosen by elections will have a legitimate mandate," Tombinsky noted.

"We share the concern expressed in the statements and reports of international organizations on the current parliamentary elections in Ukraine. At the same time, we hope that the vote count will be completed faster. The main thing is to reflect fully the will of the Ukrainian citizens," Tefft said.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed the final stage of the election process.

The CEC chairman separately underlined the problem of single-member districts. "In the majority constituencies, the CEC has done everything possible within the law to speed up the establishment of the election results," Shapoval declared.

In addition, he expressed his view on the working mechanism of the formation of the personal staff of district and precinct election commissions set by the law "On parliamentary elections of Ukraine" recognising that the mechanism did not justify itself.

In conclusion, the EU ambassador to Ukraine and the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine noted that their desire to cooperate in the future includes the expert support in the process of improving the electoral legislation of Ukraine, which, in their view, is necessary.

In turn, the CEC chairman thanked the international observers for their active work at the parliamentary elections and for the offer to cooperate.
