Explosion of the rubber handrail at "Golden gates" metro station in Kyiv has badly hurt a pensioner, 72. The information was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Kyiv metro service Natalia Shumak.  
"Yes, indeed, at 11 am, an older woman, who was standing on the platform near the moving stairway, was badly hurt by the exploded handrail," the official said but did not specify how badly, ForUm correspondent reports.

According to Shumak, the station personnel called ambulance and the woman was taken to a hospital. Experts are now investigating the scene.

"The authorities of the metro service take seriously the case. Now an investigation groups is working on the scene to find out the reasons of the explosion: worn-out state or passengers' hooliganism. You know, some passenger could cut it. It's too early to speak about the reason. We must to hold an expertise. I cannot say how long it will take, but the commission takes the case seriously, as this case is indeed out of the common," the spokeswoman underlined.
