The foreign ministers of Belarus and Russia hope to develop relations with Ukraine after the parliamentary elections.

"We respect a choice of the Ukrainian people and look forward to deepen our cooperation in the interest of the Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian people," Russian foreign minister Serhey Lavrov told reporters in Minsk on Tuesday.

In turn, foreign minister of Belarus Vladimir Makey said that Belarus hopes to "develop foreign policy with Ukraine."

"We believe that the Ukrainian elections are an internal affair of the Ukrainian people," Makey stressed.

He also noted that the Belarusian side supports evaluation of the CIS mission regarding the Ukrainian elections.

"The elections were free and open and corresponded to the laws of Ukraine. Counting of votes in those districts, which our observers (from CIS) attended, is open and transparent," head of the CIS observation mission, first deputy chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Vladimir Harkun said. According to him, over 270 observers from the CIS recorded violations, but these facts "were unsystematic and could not influence the outcome of the elections."
