Lytvyn names positives and negatives of Parliament of VI convocation

Results of the current Parliament’s convocation in the quantitative measurement are reassuring on the whole, speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn said in the interview with the parliamentary TV channel "Rada".

He said that over the four years of work, the MPs have adopted 1472 laws, 195 of which are systematic nature

According to the speaker, during the work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the Sixth
Convocation, the MPs have considered over five thousand bills and more than seven thousand
regulations, have adopted almost four thousand orders of organizational and administrative nature. Currently, almost six thousand documents are under consideration in the Parliament.

Among the positives of the current Parliament, Lytvyn called adoption of the Tax Code, the Budget Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure, described as "extremely complex documents", as well as laws regulating land issues and economic field. He noted that "not all of these documents are equal, since some of them bear the stamp of compromise, lobbying, certain subjective points of view."

Among the negatives, the speaker called the adoption of legislation, which caused a negative response in the society, in particular the first edition of the Tax Code, the draft law on criminalizing libel law, the law on the principles of the language policy.
