Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has opened a new Kyiv underground station "Hippodrome", ForUm correspondent reports.

"I am very pleased to see that the underground constructors managed to build such beautiful, in my view, station a in a very short period of time. It is the fifth station for the last two years," he said.

According to Azarov, there were no such high rates of the underground construction even in the Soviet era. "Recently Kyiv authorities have appealed to the government with suggestion to build new lines in direction of Termemky-2 and Teremky-3 districts, where 45 thousand people will live. And now we are studying this issue," the PM said, adding that soon the Teremky underground station will be opened.

He also recalled that upon completion of the blue underground line, the underground constructors must link the city center and the Troyeshchina district with a new branch.
