146 thousand prisoners are expected to vote at 188 special polling stations in the parliamentary elections on October 28, the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine press service informs.
As noted in the Service, according to the law of Ukraine on the parliamentary elections in Ukraine, the special polling stations have been formed in all penal institutions and detention facilities (181 institutions) to ensure the right to vote to all convicted persons and persons taken into custody, included in the list of voters in the respective areas.
In particular, out of 188 special polling stations, 153 stations operate on a permanent basis in order for prisoners, 35 stations - on a temporary basis for persons in custody. In addition, seven institutions provide two stations in accordance with the provisions of the electoral law.
Precinct election commissions are formed at each special polling station on a regular basis as defined by the law of Ukraine on the parliamentary elections in Ukraine. Their composition includes more than 3.5 thousand people.
