Building of the innovation-based economy that can provide decent wages and social standards is a key goal of the government, deputy Prime Minister, social policy minister Serhiy Tihipko said during the International Forum "Ukraine: development project," ForUm correspondent reports.

"We need a social and fair society, maximum employment and poverty reduction. Almost everything we tried to do in recent times was our task," the deputy Prime Minister said.

"For the last 2.5 years, we managed to maintain the macroeconomic standards. Thus, if the budget deficit in Ukraine amounted to 10.7% in 2009, we should end this year with the deficit of 2.7%. And for nine months, we have 1.9% deficit. And we plan 1.65% in 2013," he stressed.

In addition, according to him, the government managed to curb the prices and inflation. In 2009, it reached 12.3%, then it fell to 9.1% in 2010 and to 4.6% in 2011, and this year the general deflation amounts to 0.3% so far.
