Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych approved the national strategy on the prevention of child abandonment till 2020. The corresponding decree was published on the website of the President.
According to the document, the adopted strategy ensures the realization of a right for every child to grow up in a family, increases the safe family environment, improves the efficiency of government agencies and local authorities to prevent the child abandonment and improves the delivery of social services to children and families with children.
The President instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to approve the action plan to ensure the implementation of the strategy till 2020.
The strategy defines a purpose, main tasks to create all conditions to ensure the adequate social protection of children and families who have children and found themselves in difficult situations, approval of family values in society and education of responsible fatherhood.
The document was developed on the basis of the analysis of situation in the state in the sphere of social protection of children and families with children.
The financial support for implementation of the strategy will be funded by the state, local budgets and other sources not prohibited by the legislation.
