Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych signed the law on ratification of the Convention between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the United Mexican States on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of tax evasion with respect to income and wealth taxes, and the Protocol to it," the President’s press service informed.
"The Convention will contribute to the avoidance of double taxation, the prevention of tax evasion and a mutual reduction of tax barriers for foreign investment and trade. This is particularly important with respect to Ukraine, as its current tax legislation provides for the avoidance of double taxation only in case of signing bilateral international agreements," a memorandum to the law reads.
The Convention shall apply to income and wealth taxes imposed on behalf of Ukraine and on behalf of Mexico or their administrative units or local authorities, irrespective of the manner in which they are levied.
