The Cabinet of Ministers decided to reduce the minimum price for sugar from sugar beets in the domestic market by 15.4% or by 0.91 thousand hryvnia per ton to five thousand hryvnia per ton including VAT, minister of economic development and trade Petro Poroshenko told reporters.
"The minimum price for sugar will be five thousand hryvnia per ton including VAT," he said.
However, Poroshenko noted that the Economy Ministry proposed to cancel the minimum price, as this tool does not fulfill the set tasks.
The minister hopes that in the near future, the Parliament will consider this issue and abolish the law requirements on establishment of the minimum price for sugar.
