Affordable housing program gathers pace, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said at the Cabinet’s meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.
"Almost 15.5 thousand apartments have been defined for the program. In general, about 15 thousand Ukrainians have expressed a desire to obtain mortgages. But, first, all the accommodation is usually provided in the regional centers, and second, if you look at the length of the apartment queue, you see there is a need to build more," the PM said.
According to him, the government set the task for the affordable housing program to move to the district center, medium and small towns, villages in the next years. "Therefore, the local government should allot sites, engineering networks and communications for such a large-scale construction," he said.
