Ukraine, as well as the European Union, is interested in reducing the energy dependence of economies and diversification of energy resources, head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Ian Tombinsky said at his first meeting with reporters in Kyiv, ForUm correspondent reports.

"One of the main interests of Ukraine is to be less dependent on foreign suppliers, one supplier of energy resources in particular," he said.

The ambassador also said that the EU learned much from the Ukrainian-Russian crisis of 2009.
According to him, it became clearly evident that energy is the matter of national security. "In this regard, large investments were maid in the diversification of supply, energy production, energy efficiency," Tombinsky said.
