Ukraine's ambassador to the European Union Kostyantyn Eliseev believes that the issue of the EU-Ukraine summit should not be politicized.

"The summit will be held. Time of its holding depends on several factors, such as the willingness of the parties and informative content of the event," he said.

"In this context, I assume reasonable not to do tragedy of the issue and try to see political motives where there are none," he said.

Eliseev said that holding of the summit is stipulated in the current agreement on partnership and cooperation, and both Kyiv and Brussels believe that official contacts should continue.

"Therefore, even if one assumes that the EU will cancel the summit, thus striving to punish Ukraine – it is not true. Brussels wants the summit to be held as it the possibility for an open dialogue with the President of Ukraine, including the topics of concern to our European partners," the ambassador said.
