Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has instructed the Foreign Ministry and other relevant government authorities to take all measures for the release of Ukrainian citizen Ankhar Kochneva, who was captured in the Syrian Arab Republic.
"A journalist, a Ukrainian citizen who has worked for the Russian TV channels disappeared in Syria. I immediately instructed to find out all the circumstances of the incident and protect the rights and interests of the citizen of Ukraine," Yanukovych said.
Ukrainian President said that he would keep the matter under personal control.
"No matter where our citizens work or stay, their protection and security are the highest priority of the Ukrainian state. Protecting the lives and safety of Ukrainians is a matter of honor of our militaries and diplomats," Yanukovych said.
