The Agricultural Ministries of Ukraine and Russia will actively cooperate on the mutual supplies of meat and dairy products, the Agriculture Ministry of the Russian Federation informs following the tenth Ukraine-Russia Intergovernmental Committee Subcommittee on agroindustrial complex meeting held today, October 12, in Moscow, under the chairmanship of agrarian policy and food minister of Ukraine Mykola Prysiazhniuk and agriculture minister of Russia Nikolai Fedorov.

"In particular, the parties discussed further regulation of mutual supplies of meat and dairy products. The ministers tasked the veterinary services of Russia and Ukraine with working closely to ensure the safety of the food supply," the statement says.

It is noted that in addition, the joint work in supply of agricultural products and foodstuffs continues. The department of Services for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia and Ukraine hold constructive dialogue. Thus, in July 2012 Rosselkhoznadzor together with colleagues from Belarus and Kazakhstan studied the effectiveness of the inspection system of the State Veterinary Service of Ukraine to guarantee the safety of products of animal origin, supplied to the Customs Union.

Summing up, Fedorov and Prysiazhniuk stated that Ukraine and Russia have been the leading partners in the agricultural products turnover, which should be increased in the short term.
