As of today, 10.4 thousand complaints about Ukraine have been filed to the European Court of Human Rights. According to this indicator, Ukraine ranks the fifth in Europe, government commissioner for the European Court of Human Rights Nazar Kulchitsky said on the air of Channel 5.
According to him, the main reason for the large number of complaints is excessive length of execution of judgments and the excessive length of judicial proceedings in the national courts.

"Ukraine is one of the largest countries in Europe with a large population, which itself reasons a large number of applications filed by our citizens to the European Court. But, clearly, the main reason for large number of applications is the existence of a number of system problems, as 90% of the complaints about Ukraine in the European Court are of the same type," Kulchitsky said.

"As of the end of September, according to the Court statistics, Russia ranks the first on the number of complaints, Turkey is the second, Italy – the third, Romania - the fourth and we are the fifth. The number of complaints filed by Ukrainians constitutes 7.5% of the total number of complaints filed," he said.
