Decentralization of power, increase in local revenues are the main components of the local self-government reform, now being implemented in Ukraine, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych said during the meeting on the social and economic development of Kherson region, ForUm learned from the President’s press service.
"We will gradually move the center of gravity to the regions, strengthen local government, work on the decentralization of power," he said.
One of the important issues of local government reform Yanukovych called the increase in the share of taxes that will remain in the local budget for the needs of the territories. According to him, a mechanism to pay taxes to producers immediately at their work places should be worked out.
Head of state paid special attention to the importance of fair public policies on the development of territories.
