Due to the further development of agriculture in Kherson region, a modern irrigation system will be built in the region in the coming years, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said at the opening ceremony of the City Heart Center in Kherson, the press service of the head of state reports.
"In the coming years, we are planning to build a modern irrigation system. If there is irrigation, there will be a harvest and economy," the President said.
In his view, the acceleration of rehabilitation and modernization of the irrigation and drainage systems in the region is a key reason for improvement of the situation with yields.
Yanukovych stressed that the government strictly controls issues on the development of agricultural sector in the country.
