Since June, the government paid 150 million UAH to private farms for the maintenance of calves, agrarian policy and food minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

"We have implemented a program on the maintenance of young animals. We pay 250 UAH for calves under one year of life on a quarterly basis throughout the year. Since June, we have paid 150 million UAH to private owners, which have helped to save 300 thousand calves and identify another half a million. This suggests that the population will keep growing," the minister said.

Prysiazhniuk also said that the state will compensate Ukrainian farmers 100% of the price of milking machines and milk coolers, which guarantee the quality of the product.

In addition, he said that the government encourages the creation of individual private enterprises, which will provide equipment and technology for the production of high quality meat.
