Ukraine will meet its commitments to the European Union as for the introduction of biometric passports, President Viktor Yanukovych said during the visit to Kyiv region, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Our primary goal is to fulfill our commitments to the European Union in terms of the liberalization of the visa regime," he said.

According to the President, the decision to introduce biometric passports should be taken although perhaps it will be impossible to pass the law from the first time.
"Maybe we will need to correct something, in the process we’ll see that... Today, I have one wish – to comply with follow the plan, which was approved for the liberalization of the visa regime," the President said.

As Yanukovych explained, a large number of Ukrainians is traveling abroad, paying "a lot of money."

"In addition, there is a large bureaucracy in issuance of visas, constant complaints. Therefore, we can not sit and wait for something. We must act, " he said.
