The European Commission identified recommendations to improve the safety of Ukrainian NPPs, the working paper published by the European Commission on the technical implementation of the results of stress tests on nuclear power plants in Europe says.
The European Commission, in particular, drew Ukraine’s attention to the need to complete the assessment of the seismic safety of the equipment, buildings and infrastructure of the nuclear plants, identifying problem areas in the event of a severe tornado, strong winds and snowfall.
In addition, the document contains a number of recommendations on how to enhance security for emergency shutdown of the reactor and in the event of serious accidents.
In its paper, the European Commission noted a number of positive practices used at Ukrainian nuclear power plants, including conduct of trainings at all nuclear power plants against possibility of different types of emergencies.
