President Viktor Yanukovych will initiate appointment of 12 out of 20 members of the High Council of Justice, advisor to the President, head of the judiciary department at the Presidential Administration Andriy Portnov told the Bar Association forum I.

According to him, in the afternoon of Thursday, the Constitutional Assembly will receive the proposals of Yanukovych on the amendments to the "Justice" chapter of the Constitution.
"First of all we will have a new procedure for the formation of the High Council of Justice ... We suggest that the majority of the judges, that Congress judges, form this body, which will be responsible, as before, for the qualification and disciplinary issues. We offer not just the majority, but 2/3," advisor to the president said.

Portnov said that the congress of judges are invited to nominate 12 members of the High Council of Justice, also the chairs of the Judicial Council, the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court are offered to be included.

In addition, he said it is assumed that the composition of this body will include one representative of the prosecutor's office.
