Minister of agrarian policy and food Mykola Prysyazhnyukhopes that this year, the government will minimize seasonal fluctuations in the prices of vegetables and fruits, he told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.
According to the minister, Ukraine has almost harvested the vegetables. "This year, we expect to gather about 8.9 million tons of vegetables, while the consumption fund amounts to 7.1 million tons. We have the following harvest forecasts: 1.85 million tons (consumption fund - 1.52 million tons) of cabbage, 900 thousand tons (consumption fund - 300 thousand tons) of beet, 900 tons (consumption fund - 600 thousand tons) of carrot and1 million ton (consumption fund - 460 thousand tons) of onion," the minister informed.
In addition, he stressed that the Ministry forecasts to receive 800 thousand tons of cucumber, 1.8 million tons of tomato and 180 tons of garlic.
