Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych welcomes a decision of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which abolished the adoption in the first reading the draft law "On amendments to the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code to strengthen the responsibility for an attack on the honor, dignity and business reputation of people," press secretary of the President Dariya Chepak said, ForUm learned from the press service of the President.
She recalled that the President addressed author of the bill, MP Vitaly Zhuravsky to reconsider the future of this document.
"The President noted that such bills should be adopted only after proper evaluation by the European experts, public discussion and opinion of the society," the press secretary of the President noted.
The President stressed the importance of effective protection of freedom of expression and diversity of opinion in the state.
