Verkhovna Rada passed the bill, which bans the promotion of homosexuality, ForUm correspondent reports.
289 MPs voted in favor of the adoption of the bill on amendments to certain legislative acts on children's rights to safe information space.
"Some colleagues from the opposition on the sidelines to pass the bill in first reading and then to finalize it a bit," MP from the Party of Regions Mykhailo Chechetov said during debates on the bill.
The Parliament intends to determine that homosexuality is a sexual relationship between persons of the same sex.
In addition, the bill provides for the responsibility for the distribution of creations promoting homosexuality.
Since morning, a rally in support of the bill was held near the Parliament.
