Regions with forest resource will lay forest roads at the cost of enterprises, chairman of the State Forest Resources Agency Viktor Syvets said, ForUm correspondent reports.
"The resource regions of Ukraine do not need state funds for the construction of forest roads. They will be built at the cost of enterprises (forestry’s enterprises - Ed.)," the head of the State Agency said.
According to Syvets, the state will continue investing in the construction of fire roads in the south-eastern regions of Ukraine, where the forest is only planted and protected and has no commercial value.
"First of all, the forest is state property. In 2011, the government allocated funds for the purchase of modern construction equipment and start of the construction process. As of today, forestry’s managers saw it is profitable to build a forest road as it increases business income," Syvets said.
Today, two forest roads in Olevsk and Yavnensk forestries have been opened in Zhytomyr region. Both were built at the cost of state enterprises.
