NATO is not going to make a pause in the relations with Ukraine, deputy secretary general of NATO on new security challenges, ambassador Gabor Iklody told reportes.

"NATO is not interested in breaking off the relations with Ukraine to make some pause. Our organization is truly interested in development of the relations with this country. NATO needs Ukraine, and your country needs our organization," he said adding that Ukraine is an extremely important factor in the Euro-Atlantic security.

He also stressed that Ukraine overcame a significant segment on the path to democracy. "However, during the NATO summit in Chicago, there was a concern about its future development. I think the parliamentary elections held next month in Ukraine will give your country an opportunity to show that it is committed to democratic values and to hold free and fair elections," Iklody said.

As a reminder, the parliamentary elections in Ukraine are scheduled for October 28.
