In Ukraine there is a need to develop palliative care at home, director of the Palliative Care International Initiative Mary Callaway said during press conference "Decent life on the threshold of Eternity", ForUm correspondent reports.

She noted that lack of tableted morphine remain the problem.

"To make this a reality, the law should be changed. And when these drugs (tableted morphine - Ed.) become available, patronage forms of assistance to such patients should be developed in Ukraine for the patients to receive all necessary medications, all necessary assistance at home. And to make it all work, we need to educate health professionals," Callaway said.

According to the director of the Palliative Care International Initiative, maintenance of a hospice as a separate institution is very expensive, so palliative care at home is actively developing in the world.
