
Defamation law will not be passed before the election, moreover, there is a possibility that it would not be passed at all, the deputy head of the Party of Regions faction Chechetov said during the round table "The defamation bill: where is crime and what is the punishment?", ForUm correspondent reports.
In particular, Chechetov stressed once again that the bill will come into the second reading only after significant changes, including proposals of the press.
However, he insists that the country needs to combat defamation.
Chehcetov stressed that the bill is much milder than in Poland and the UK, for example.
According to him, the bill needs a lot of work on, but it is possible that defamation won’t be criminalized".
