On September 22, the Central Election Commission sent to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine the statement of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Ukraine John Tefft on violations of the electoral law, which earlier were directed by the Prosecutor General's Office to the CEC.

In turn, chairman of the Central Election Commission Volodymyr Shapoval said that the Central Election Commission cannot investigate into violations of the electoral law, as it is the responsibility of the General Prosecutor's Office.

"Every public authority, in particular, the Central Election Commission, the General Prosecutor's Office should act solely within the powers specified in the Constitution and the law. The Central Election Commission is not a law enforcement body," Shapoval said.
