Ukraine is ready to ensure a reliable supply of energy to the European Union, energy and coal industry minister of Ukraine Yuri Boiko assured the EU Commissioner for Energy Günther Oettinger during the meeting held on September 21, 2012 in Brussels, the Ministry’s press service informs.
Boiko noted that Ukraine is taking all necessary steps to prepare for the autumn-winter period, and stressed that today Ukraine has all the conditions to ensure safe transit of Russian natural gas to European countries in the required quantities.

He also noted that the EU support in the implementation of energy projects is important for Ukraine.
"We are very pleased to work with the European Commission, as we constantly feel the support of the European Commissioner for Energy Mr. Oettinger," Boiko said.

During the meeting the issues of raising funds of European financial institutions in the energy sector of Ukraine, modernization of the Ukrainian gas transportation system, Ukrainian gas transport system and underground storages readiness for the winter period, renewal of the Energy Strategy of Ukraine till 2030, the prospects of reverse gas supplies to Ukraine from the EU Member States, signing agreements to raise funds to improve the safety of the Ukrainian NPPs were discussed.
