It is more profitable for Ukraine to integrate into Europe, President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski told a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, ForUm correspondent reported.
"As I am a historian, I know more about the past, not the future, and I can not say which international vectors Ukraine should choose - European or Russian. I can say which one is more profitable for Europe, Poland and Ukraine. This is the integration into the European Union, as this option gives a possibility of further development," he said.
He recalled that after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Poland and Ukraine had approximately the same conditions. But today, according to Komorowski, Poland's GDP is three times higher than the GDP of Ukraine.
"But I am sure that it is impossible to implement two scenarios simultaneously and in parallel. You must choose. Only Ukraine can do it, and Poland can only help. Poland may also convince the world and the European Union to give such opportunity to Ukraine. Experience shows us that our integration in the EU is profitable. It may be profitable for Ukraine as well," the President said adding that Poland supports Ukraine's European aspirations.
