Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov promised that after the election the gas tariffs for the population will not rise.

"Nothing will happen after October 28. No decision to raise tariffs will be taken," Azarov said.
He stressed that this issue is not related to the election campaign.

In addition, the PM said that in the beginning of the year, in the course of negotiations with the IMF, he confirmed that Ukraine is set to continue cooperation with the Fund.

"We have agreed that we will resume negotiations in the framework of cooperation, taking into account the development of the large energy efficiency program, which we are interested to work on. Not only the IMF could work within the program, but the Bank of Reconstruction and Development, the World Bank and other financial institutions as well. That's a program we talked about," Azarov said.

As a reminder, to receive loan from the IMF under stand-by arrangement, Ukraine must increase gas prices for the population.
