After the introduction of vehicle recycling tax on imported cars from Russia, Ukraine may refuse to raise import taxes on cars imported into the country, minister of economic development and trade of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko told journalists.
He noted that the issue on actions of these two protective measures will be studied in detail.
"I do not think that we will allow co-administration of these two protective measures," Poroshenko said.
He stressed that the decision to increase the import duty under the decision of the Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade can be canceled at the initiative of the Ukrainian manufacturers.
"This initiative must and will come not from the government, but from the Ukrainian manufacturers. If the producers consider the current regime of protection to be sufficient, then we will bear with this," Poroshenko said.
As a reminder, in June, Ukrainian Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade took a decision to increase in Ukraine taxes on imported cars, but the document has not been published and has not entered into force yet.
