President: Goals and tasks of Ukrainian reforms are clear and understandable

Ukraine is ready to join the competition for leadership in the world, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych said, speaking at the 9th Forum of the Yalta European Strategy.

He paid great attention to the global economic crisis, expressing the view that this crisis will inevitably lead to the fact that the leadership of the world will change. He noted that once seemingly immutable G8 has actually become G20. Yanukovych expressed his belief that this is not the final figure.

 

President of Ukraine believes that this trend is well demonstrated by the movement of investment. He noted that investment go where the economy is developing dynamically, to countries with promising future. "It is no longer only about the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa - Ed.), a lot of attention of international investors is attracted by the MIST countries - Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey - despite the global slowdown and difficult process of transformation of traditional leaders they may be the biggest locomotives of the world economy in the XXI century. Ukraine has a chance to join this competition," the President said.

He spoke about the reforms, which are currently being conducted in Ukraine. According to him, the situation in Ukraine is normal, Ukraine managed to emerge of crisis and overcome the decline. "The goals and tasks of Ukrainian reforms are clear and understandable - to become one of the leaders of the post-crisis world," he said.
